What banner and ad design costs
A website banner starts from £95, a digital advert or promotional graphic from £125, and an animated website banner from £250. If your campaign needs the same message across several ad sizes and social formats, a multi-format rollout starts from £250.
Banners I have designed
I have designed web banners and digital campaign artwork for brands including Kia, Lotus, Glen’s Vodka, Laphroaig, Maker’s Mark and Courvoisier, from new-model launches to competitions. Good banners do one thing: get one message across fast enough that someone clicks.
The sizes you will need
For display advertising, the most common sizes are 300 x 250 (medium rectangle), 728 x 90 (leaderboard), 160 x 600 (skyscraper) and 320 x 50 (mobile banner). Website hero banners are sized to your site’s layout. Your ad platform or website will tell you the exact sizes; it is worth getting the full list before design starts.
What makes a banner work
One headline, one image, one button. The offer or message has to be readable in a second, the brand has to be obvious, and the button needs to say what happens next. Small banners especially leave no room for detail: if it does not fit at 320 x 50, it is too much.
Static or animated
Animated banners attract more attention but must still make sense when they stop on the final frame, because many viewers will only see that. Keep animations short and end on the message and button.
