Why motion gets noticed

On a social feed or a screen behind a bar, movement is what stops people. A static graphic can say the same thing, but a short animation draws the eye first and holds it for longer. For a local business competing for attention on Instagram, Facebook or a venue screen, a few seconds of well-designed motion often does more than a bigger ad budget.

Where Glasgow businesses use it

The most useful applications are practical: animated social posts and adverts for offers and events; looping content for screens in bars, restaurants, gyms, salons and shop windows; animated web banners; and logo animations for video intros, presentations and social profiles. I have designed screen content for commercial screen networks since 2020, so much of my motion work is built to be read at a distance, in a few seconds, by people who are not standing still.

What it costs

My starting prices: an animated social or promotional asset from £175; a logo animation from £250; a digital screen or signage advert from £350; and a premium 30-second animated advert from £650. Animated content can also be included in a monthly support plan if you need it regularly, which is usually better value than commissioning one piece at a time.

How long it takes

Simple animated social graphics are typically turned around in 3–5 working days once the brief and assets are agreed. Signage adverts and multi-format campaigns take longer, because they are usually produced in several sizes and lengths. Projects are produced in Adobe After Effects, working from your existing logo, brand colours and photography.

Getting the brief right

A good motion brief answers four questions: where will it play (feed, story, screen, website), how long can it be, does it need to work without sound, and what single thing should the viewer remember. Much social and screen content is watched without sound, so the message has to work through type and movement alone. Keep it to one message per animation; three offers in eight seconds means none of them land.
